APPG Rural Health and Care
The three- year investigation undertaken by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Rural Health and Care and the National Centre for Rural Health and Care is one of the most extensive of its kind.
Chaired by Anne Marie Morris, MP, the Inquiry was set up just prior to the COVID pandemic to identify and ultimately address inequalities in rural health and care. It also found that the pandemic had major negative effects, resulting in damage to the wellbeing of health and care workers, staff shortages and the financial viability of care homes. The pandemic saw an increase in the number of people migrating to rural areas and the Inquiry highlights the need for Government to take notice of the impact on health services of the growing rural population.
Future Land Use
In June 2021, the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) launched a survey, ‘Future Land Use’. Funded by Defra and led by the NFYFC and Rose Regeneration, the survey provided young people living and working in rural areas, next generation farmers and land managers with an opportunity to share their views on the future of land use, now and into the future. This report, published in March 2021, contains the key findings of the research.
Land Use Futures
Young people have shared their views on future land use and food production with us.
Rural Workforce Research
This summary report, prepared with the University of Birmingham, applies a rural lens to the workforce challenges facing the NHS. The golden thread running through the research is that securing staff to deliver high quality health and care in rural areas (now and in the future) is crucial. The research identified 9 challenges and 9 opportunities. The full report is available on the NCRHC website www.ncrhc.org
National Review of LEADER Programme
Rose Regeneration helped review the LEADER Approach for delivering the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).
LEADER is a European funding programme for rural communities.
Rose Regeneration and the universities of Lincoln and London undertook a national review of the current programme and the extent to which it demonstrated value-for-money.
We also assessed the economic, social and environmental benefits it had delivered; how delivery processes could be improved; and what the programme might look like from 2014.
